National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

December 6 marks a sad day in Canada as it’s been deemed a day of remembrance and action on violence against women in honour of the 14 women who were killed in the École Polytechnique massacre.

On December 6, 1989, a male gunman opened fire in a classroom at the Montreal engineering school, specifically targeting the women students. The École Polytechnique massacre is commemorated annually as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Flags are flying at half-mast at NT Power as we honour the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

We must all re-commit to action on violence against women—an issue that affects everyone.

There are resources available, including crisis lines and support services for those affected by gender-based violence. If you are in an emergency, call 9-1-1.
